priority role of the Early Childhood Education Adviser is to provide an advisory service to the Early
Childhood Educators of Marlborough and Kaikoura which supports their programmes and the Governments goals
for Early Childhood Who
do we work with? REAP Marlborough
works throughout the province. Our interest is in helping early childhood educators and parents to provide
quality experiences for our youngest children. We have strong connections with a wide varety of Early Childhood agencies and together, help parents access education opportunities
We work with Centres, Play Groups, Kohanga Reo, the Public Health Unit, Plunket, Barnardos, Maata Waka, Ministry of Education, Special Education and the District Library. What
do we do? REAP Marlborough regularly offers
parenting skills programmes and has a particular interest in rural families and communities. The
ECE Adviser liaises with Centres and support agencies making on-site visits, networking, arranging professional
development events and providing support resources. Want

with three exciting programmes which promote sound parenting practices. SKIP The
objectives of the SKIP Programmes are to: Increase the opportunities for communities to promote positive
parenting. Increase the consistency and application of knowledge about effective discipline. BOOKSTART The
Bookstart Programme is an initiative that reinforces the importance of reading and book language from
birth. New mothers are visited in the Maternity Hospital with follow up visits at home or in group sessions. The Public Library
and Public Heath Unit together with REAP have developed this beneficial programme. YOUNG
MUMS' GROUP This is a joint venture with Plunket aimed at young mothers twenty years old or younger
who meet to discuss all aspects of parenting a child development. Contact
