Course Description
A hands-on opportunity with a wonderful tutor. Feel the clay and make your own koru. Glazes and firing complete your artwork and will be delivered to REAP Marlborough when finished. Date: Saturday 14th November Time: 10.00am - 12.00pm Location: REAP Marlborough (65 Seymour Street, Blenheim) Price: $45 per person Tutor: Renate von Petersdorff Students need to bring an apron, a pointy knife for carving, bring your own design or an idea of what you want to carve, pencil or pen, small carving tools if you have them. Renata will have some tools you can use. The koru (Te Reo Māori for 'loop' or 'coil') is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling silver fern frond. In Māori art, carving and tattooing, the koru symbolises new life, growth, strength, and peace. [Activity code: Mar 54543]
